Answers to everything about the Syncian plugin and the Obsyncian service.Ответы на всё про плагин Syncian и сервис Obsyncian.
Getting started
How do I install the plugin?
Once listed, search for Syncian in Settings → Community plugins and install it. Until then, use the one-command manual install: open our Telegram bot, send /instructions, and follow the guide for macOS or Windows.
How do I log in?
In Settings → Syncian press Continue with Telegram, open the bot, send /connect, and paste the code (looks like K3-482910, valid 10 minutes). Email codes work too. No password exists — codes only.
The plugin doesn't appear after installing
- Reload Obsidian (
Cmd/Ctrl+R) or restart it. - Check Settings → Community plugins is enabled.
- Find Syncian in the list and toggle it on.
Encryption & passphrase
Should I set a passphrase?
Yes, strongly recommended. With a passphrase, note contents and file names are encrypted on your device before upload — nobody, including us, can read them. Without one, sync works but data is stored readable by us. Full details: obsyncian.com/encryption.
I forgot my passphrase — can you reset it?
No — and that's by design. Real end-to-end encryption means no reset, no backdoor, nobody can help. Your local files are untouched: unlink the vault, create a new one with a new passphrase, and re-sync.
Can I turn encryption on for an existing vault?
Not in place — the mode is chosen at vault creation. Unlink → create a new vault with a passphrase → let it sync → delete the old vault.
Sync & conflicts
When does sync happen?
On app start, on every file change (5-second debounce), on an interval (default 5 min, adjustable), and manually via the Sync now command. The sidebar panel (refresh icon) shows live progress, the last sync report, and errors. Pause sync stops auto-sync until you resume. How it works under the hood: obsyncian.com/how-sync-works.
I edited the same note on two devices — what happens?
Nothing is lost, ever. The most recent push wins the "main" spot, and the other version is saved right next to it as Note (conflict 2026-07-04 1130).md. Merge them by hand and delete the copy. This is the same model official Obsidian Sync uses.
Can I exclude folders from sync?
Yes: Settings → Syncian → Excluded folders — comma-separated paths (e.g. Private, Scratch). Excluding a folder never deletes it from other devices.
Devices & mobile
How do I add a second device?
Install the plugin → log in with the same account → enter the same passphrase (for encrypted vaults) → pick your vault under Existing vaults. The plugin verifies the passphrase locally before syncing; a wrong one fails immediately and harmlessly.
Does it work on iPhone / Android?
Yes. One OS-level limitation applies to every Obsidian plugin: no background sync on mobile. Notes sync while Obsidian is open — open the app and changes arrive within seconds.
Plans & billing
What are the plans?
Free: 50 MB, 1 vault, 10 MB max file, 2 devices. Standard ($5/mo · $48/yr · 499₽/4990₽): 2 GB, 2 vaults, unlimited devices, share with up to 3 people. Plus ($10/mo · $96/yr · 999₽/9990₽): 20 GB, 20 vaults, 250 MB files, share with up to 100 people. Check yours any time with /status in the bot.
How do I pay? Will it auto-charge?
Send /upgrade to the bot. Crypto (any coin Crypto Bot accepts): one-time invoice each period, never auto-charges — renew manually. Card (₽): you explicitly agree to recurring charges (amount and frequency shown first), then the saved card renews automatically until you send /cancel. Full terms: obsyncian.com/subscription.
How do I cancel? What about refunds?
Send /cancel to the bot — instant, no further charges, your plan runs to the end of the paid period. Refunds: message the bot or email almas.abulkhairov@gmail.com — erroneous/duplicate charges refunded in full, replies within 1–2 business days. Details: obsyncian.com/subscription.
My plan expired — is my data gone?
No. Your account drops to Free; nothing is deleted. If you're over the Free limits, sync stops accepting new data, but everything already synced stays downloadable, and your local files were never touched anyway.
Vault sharing
How do I share a vault?
Paid plans only. Send /invite to the bot, pick vault(s), then send the person's @username (several via commas), a forwarded message from them, or their contact. They must have messaged the bot at least once. They tap Accept and the vault appears in their plugin as "@you — Vault name". For encrypted vaults, share the passphrase with them personally — we never see it, so we can't.
How do I remove someone's access?
Send /revoke — pick the vault, then tap the person (or "Revoke everyone"). Instant: their sync stops, files already on their device stay (they always could have copied them anyway).
Troubleshooting
Sync isn't working — checklist
- Open the status panel (refresh icon in the sidebar) — what does the status line and last report say?
- "paused" → press Resume sync.
- Wrong passphrase error → re-enter it in Settings → Syncian.
- Quota / file size errors → check
/statusin the bot; the bot also messages you when you hit a limit. - Timeout / unreachable → check your connection; try Sync now.
- Still stuck → message the bot with what the panel's error text says.
A file didn't sync
Most common causes: it's larger than your plan's per-file limit (10 MB Free, 50 MB Standard, 250 MB Plus), it's inside an excluded folder, or you're over storage quota. The last sync report in the status panel lists every error per file.
Didn't find your answer? Message the bot in Telegram (fastest) or email almas.abulkhairov@gmail.com. We reply within 1–2 business days, usually much faster.
